The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t the only ones taking losses lately – former Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney just took a major hit off the field. According to ESPN, the two-time Super Bowl champion was recently arrested in Douglasville, Georgia, for allegedly assaulting a woman and preventing her from calling 911.

According to court documents obtained (Feb.12) by TMZ Sports, Toney allegedly placed his hand around a woman’s throat with enough force to prevent her from breathing. The report states that the woman suffered visible red marks on her neck and petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes – a serious indication of strangulation.

To make matters worse, authorities claim Toney also took the woman’s phone when she tried to call for help, even canceling voice commands that attempted to dial 911. This led to an additional charge of obstructing emergency calls. Arrest warrants were issued, and Toney was booked with bond set at $25,000 per count.

The former Florida Gator and 2021 first-round pick was once viewed as a rising star, but his career has been anything but stable. After struggling with injuries and consistency with the New York Giants, he was traded to the Chiefs in 2022. His stint in Kansas City had its highs – including a record-setting 61-yard punt return in Super Bowl LVII – but his second season was plagued by dropped passes, injuries, and, now, legal troubles.

Toney had signed with the Cleveland Browns for the 2024 season but was released after muffing a punt and picking up an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in his only appearance. Talk about going from hero to zero.

NFL Twitter wasted no time reacting to the shocking news, roasting Toney with brutal takes while also calling for the league to take swift action.

One user tweeted, “Kadarius Toney went from Super Bowl MVP candidate to a walking disaster. Chiefs dodged a bullet.”

Others are drawing comparisons to past NFL suspensions, noting that if Toney is found guilty, his playing days might be numbered. The commentary didn’t hold back, with reactions like, “First time he held on,” and “He got hands for everything except the football.”

One fan added, “These men have to keep their hands to themselves. Oh, and the women too,” Others mocked his on-field struggles, saying, “Crazy way to practice not dropping footballs,” and “His hands finally caught something.” The internet can be ruthless, and Toney is certainly feeling the heat.

As of now, Toney’s camp has remained silent on the matter, and the NFL has yet to issue a statement. Given the league’s strict personal conduct policy, a suspension – or worse – could be looming. The NFL has handed down heavy suspensions for domestic violence allegations in the past, and this situation isn’t looking good for Toney.

Stay tuned for updates as the NFL and legal system weigh in.
