The 'Gossip Girl' fandom played a crucial role by rallying together, raising awareness on social media, and supporting efforts to locate Banks.
Actress Chanel Maya Banks, best known for her roles in Gossip Girl, Blue Bloods, and Twelve, has been found safe (Nov. 13), after she went missing for two weeks.
The actress was missing since Oct. 30, leaving her family deeply worried and determined to find answers. The local law enforcement confirmed that she was unharmed and no foul play is suspected in her disappearance. The case has been closed.
Police located her in Texas, where a woman came to the door and identified herself as Banks. Banks, who also goes by Chanel Farrell, disappeared from her home in Playa Vista, Los Angeles, according to her cousin Danielle-Tori Singh.
Singh, Banks' cousin, shared that the last message they received from her was a text on October 30. According to KTLA 5, Banks' phone has been off, and none of her family has heard from her.
"The last text we heard from her before her phone went off the grid was Oct. 30," Singh told the outlet. "Her phone is dead, her car is here, her dog is here. She doesn't go to the bathroom without her dog," she added.
I wonder where #chanelbanks was for 2 weeks? Her personal belongings and dog were in her apartment, her husband was tearing down missing person's flyers, her family had 4 wellness checks performed, and they were extremely concerned. Her Instagram was deactivated too.

After several days without contact, Singh flew from Toronto to Los Angeles to check on her cousin. She and Banks' mother gained entry to the actress's apartment on November 10, hoping to find answers. To their concern, nearly everything of Banks was still there – her clothes, purse, and other essentials – but her phone and laptop were missing.
Chanel's family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to hire a private investigator, hoping to bring in additional expertise to uncover Chanel's whereabouts.
"She would NEVER go anywhere without telling her mom or myself," she stated in the GoFundMe. "On Nov. 10, my aunt and I were able to get into the apartment and all of her belongings are still there. The only items we did not locate are her phone and laptop."
The Los Angeles Police Department conducted welfare checks on November 7 and 8, confirming there was no sign of foul play, but the family remains unsettled, with many questions still unanswered.
"Five days without hearing from my cousin is red flags and alarm bells," she noted. "She doesn't go more than 48 hours without speaking to me or her mom. That girl is more like a big sister to me. I can tell you in my soul, in my gut, something is not right. We're crossing two weeks now without a word, without a sound. Nothing."
Adding to their distress, Singh claims Banks' husband has not cooperated with their search efforts. She alleged that he has refused to help family members and the police, going as far as removing missing person flyers that have been posted around town.
"He's not willing to help the LAPD. He's not willing to help me or her mom find her. He is removing flyers from posts and cars," Singh pointed out.
Despite her family's suspicions, police have stated that her husband has not committed any crime by withholding information. As days pass without a word, Singh and her family's anxiety continues to grow.
Banks' role as Sawyer Bennett on Gossip Girl and other appearances have made her a beloved figure, and her disappearance has sparked deep concern among fans. Now, more than ever, the Gossip Girl fandom can play a crucial role by rallying together, raising awareness on social media, and supporting efforts to locate Banks.
Her family is encouraging everyone to share Banks' story online and spread the word about her disappearance. If you'd like to help, consider donating to their GoFundMe campaign, sharing her missing person flyer, and using social media to keep the search for Chanel Banks visible. Every share, post, and donation brings the family closer to finding Banks and bringing her safely home.
