As wildfires continue to rage across California (Jan. 8), the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles has become a battleground for residents and firefighters. The destruction is so severe that even Hollywood's biggest celebrities have had to evacuate their homes, seeking refuge from the relentless flames that are threatening thousands of lives and properties.

Among those affected by the devastating fires are Mark Hamill, Mandy Moore, James Woods, and Eugene Levy, all of whom have shared their experiences on social media as they were forced to flee their homes. Hamill, known for his role as Luke Skywalker, posted on Instagram about the terrifying experience of driving through the smoke-filled streets.

"7 pm – Evacuated Malibu, so at the last minute, there were small fires on both sides of the road as we approached PCH," he wrote on Instagram. "8:15 pm – Marilou, Trixie & I arrive at Chelsea's house in Hollywood. Most horrific fire since '93. Stay safe."

The Pacific Palisades is home to many of Hollywood's elite, including Adam Sandler, Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks, and Jennifer Aniston, making this area a high-profile location for the crisis. While the damage assessment is still underway, the Associated Press reported that over 30,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate, and more than 13,000 structures remain at risk. The flames have already jumped over Sunset Boulevard, destroying parts of Palisades Charter High School, which has appeared in countless popular productions.

The mass evacuations have led to roadways becoming impassable, and some people had to abandon their vehicles and flee on foot, carrying only their most essential belongings. Steve Guttenberg, star of Police Academy, even helped move abandoned cars to improve emergency access.

"What's happening is people take their keys with them as if they're in a parking lot. This is not a parking lot. We really need people to move their cars," the actor told KTLA. "If you leave your car behind, leave the key in there so a guy like me can move your car so that these fire trucks can get up there."

He continued, "There are people stuck up there. Don't worry about your personal property. Just get out. Get your loved ones and get out."

Celebrities like Mandy Moore, who evacuated with her husband and children, have been vocal about the emotional toll the fires are taking on their families. She shared on Instagram, "Grateful for the kindness of friends that we had a place to land last night. Trying to shield the kids from the immense sadness and worry I feel. Praying for everyone in our beautiful city."

While these high-profile figures are fortunate enough to have resources and support systems, many residents in the affected areas are facing life-altering challenges. Now, it's up to the public to help those in need.
