Jax Taylor just dropped a bombshell that even SUR’s drama-filled history couldn’t prepare us for! The Vanderpump Rules alum turned The Valley star is spilling all the messy details about his decades-long battle with cocaine addiction. But while Taylor is celebrating his 100 days of sobriety, his ex Brittany Cartwright is weighing in.

Taylor, 45, revealed on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast that he’s been struggling with substance abuse – specifically cocaine – since his early twenties.

“I’ve been dealing with this on and off since I was 23 and now I’m 45,” he admitted. While Taylor claims he’s been waiting for the right moment to open up, longtime VPR fans were already clued in. “I think a lot of people who watch Vanderpump Rules over the years could kind of tell that I was on something,” he added.

Taylor also confessed that his drug use was deeply tied to his drinking.

“I can’t do cocaine without drinking, so I just gave up both,” he explained. He credits his 3-year-old son, Cruz, as his biggest motivation for staying sober. “The big thing here is my son. He’s my drive, and he’s my No. 1 driver for this,” Jax shared.

But while the reality star is patting himself on the back, Cartwright is not clapping along.

After years of being Taylor's ride-or-die (even through his Vanderpump-era cheating scandals and questionable business ventures), Cartwright is finally putting herself and her son first.

“I’m glad that he finally admitted to what was really going on,” she told People. “For the first time, I can speak openly about the extent of trauma he’s instilled on our family over the years.”

Cartwright didn’t stop there. While Taylor is focused on proving he’s a changed man, she’s not convinced.

“I pray that one day he completely knocks this addiction, but I’m skeptical. His behaviors are still alarming, and his treatment plan seems to be the bare minimum,” she said.

As for co-parenting? That’s still a work in progress. Cartwright, who filed for divorce in August 2024 after five years of marriage, is navigating what she calls a “challenging and difficult” dynamic.

“Jax has caused an enormous amount of damage, and I have very little trust in him at this point,” she revealed.

Taylor is now claiming that he’s doing everything Cartwright asks of him, including going “above and beyond” to be present in Cruz’s life.

“I take care of my son as much as [Brittany] allows me to,” he insisted.

But is he doing enough?Cartwright doesn’t seem convinced, and fans are split down the middle.

Bravoholics know that Taylor is no stranger to second (or third… or tenth) chances, but whether or not Cartwright buys into his redemption arc is another story. One thing’s for sure – when The Valley premieres later this month, we’ll all be watching to see how this drama unfolds.
