Jay-Z: "I'm a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don't play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children."
Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, one of the biggest names in music and business, is now at the center of a shocking lawsuit. On Sunday (Dec.8), he was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean "Diddy" Combs at an after-party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
According to NBC News, the lawsuit was filed in federal court, claiming the girl – referred to as "Jane Doe" – was lured to the party by a limo driver who said she "fit what Diddy was looking for." She says the driver took her to a house party after the awards show, where she was offered a drink that left her feeling woozy. The documents filed in October claim that Jay-Z and Diddy later assaulted her in a private room while a female celebrity allegedly looked on.
This isn't the first legal trouble for Diddy, who's already behind bars facing serious charges like racketeering and sex trafficking. But for Jay-Z, this marks the first time he's been named in a case like this – and he's not holding back.
"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?" Carter told the outlet. "These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case."

The lawsuit comes from Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee, who has recently filed several cases against Diddy. This is the first, however, to name Jay-Z. Buzbee has remained tight-lipped, but Jay-Z is accusing him of playing games.
"You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all 'celebrities' are the same," said Jay-Z. "I'm not from your world. I'm a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don't play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children," he added.
Meanwhile, Diddy's legal team is doubling down on their client's innocence, calling these lawsuits "shameless publicity stunts." They insist the truth will come out in court, where Diddy's trial is set for May.
As for the accuser, her lawsuit says she was forced to sign a nondisclosure agreement to get into the party. Once inside, she alleges she was assaulted and fled the scene in fear. She's now suing under New York's Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, seeking damages for what she endured.
Jay-Z also shared how these allegations are impacting his family, especially his children.
"My only heartbreak is for my family," said Jay-Z in a statement. "My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence."
He continued, "Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding hard to kids, would be laughable."
The lawsuit is just the latest in a string of controversies surrounding Diddy, but fans are now buzzing about how this could ripple through Jay-Z's life and career.
