Get ready to "Boot Scootin' Boogie" at the 2024 CMT Music Awards.
The network announced early Tuesday (March 19) morning the first round of artists scheduled to perform at the 2024 CMT Music Awards. The biggest names in country music will flock to Austin, Texas, on April 7 to witness the star-studded lineup at the Moody Center.
This year's event promises to deliver a blend of established stars and rising talents set against the vibrant backdrop of the Lone Star State. Lainey Wilson, Sam Hunt, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, and Bailey Zimmerman are slated to take center stage. They will join previously announced performer Kelsea Ballerini.
Ballerini will also serve as the host for the evening. Her dual role underscores her versatility and prominence within the industry. While Wilson is expected to deliver her hit single "Country's Cool Again," Urban will tackle a rowdy rendition of "Straight Line." The hitmaker will also make CMT history, as his performance will mark his 20th time on the show – the most of any other artist within the genre. "Straight Line" is the first single from his forthcoming 12th studio album.
The country community will also hear a brand new song from Hunt and enjoy a live version of "Where It Ends" by Zimmerman. The jaw-dropping roster comes on the heels of the CMT nominations, which were announced on Wednesday, March 13.
Wilson, Jelly Roll, Ballerini, Cody Johnson, and Megan Moroney are leading the pack, each boasting three nominations. Jelly Roll scored nods for Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, and CMT Performance of the Year for "Need a Favor." Wilson will be going head-to-head with Ballerini for Female Video of the Year. Ballerini also earned a place in the CMT Performance of the Year category for her memorable act of "IF YOU GO DOWN (I'M GOIN' DOWN TOO)" with drag queens.
First-time nominees include Ashley Cooke, Bret Michaels, Chayce Beckham, Koe Wetzel, Stephen Wilson Jr., Warren Zeiders, Tyler Childers, Amber Riley, and chart-topping artist Zach Bryan. Sixteen musicians are currently within the Video of the Year, the most competitive category. The list that includes Darius Rucker, Mickey Guyton, and Kacey Musgraves will be cut down on April 1.
The live broadcast from Austin's Moody Center on CBS promises to captivate audiences nationwide, with streaming options available for those unable to tune in. As the countdown to April 7 continues, organizers hint at additional surprises and performers yet to be unveiled, ensuring that the 2024 CMT Music Awards will be an event to remember.
