Leonardo DiCaprio recently stunned fans, and is not the talk of the internet. The award-winning actor admitted he has never watched his breakout film, Titanic. The legendary film premiered nearly 30 years ago, but DiCaprio has never turned it on. 

During a candid conversation with Jennifer Lawrence for the CNN and Variety’s Actors on Actors series, DiCaprio reflected on his career, leaving many fans both bewildered and intrigued.

“I haven’t seen it before,” DiCprio told Lawrence. “I don’t really watch my films.” 

This confession struck a chord with fans who have cherished the tale of Jack and Rose for generations. The film not only catapulted DiCaprio to superstardom but has also remained a hallmark in cinematic history. 

Lawrence, who also shared her own struggles with watching her work, nudged him, saying, “I bet you could watch it now, it’s so good.” 

If DiCaprio ever decided to sit through the entire movie, he would need three hours and 15 minutes of free time. 

It’s hard to believe that someone like DiCaprio, who has achieved so much in the industry, hasn’t taken a trip down memory lane to see the film that defined a generation. 

However, his acknowledgment of Titanic's impact on his career was enlightening. 

“It became something that we could’ve never foreseen,” he explained to Deadline in 2016. “People said, ‘Do you realize how big of a movie this is?’ I said, ‘Yeah, it’s big. It’s a big movie.’ They’re like, ‘No. No. No, it’s the biggest movie ever.”

The actor was only 22 years old when Titanic was released. He used the praise from fans and Hollywood as a launching pad for future projects.  DiCaprio previously told the publication that he had the opportunity to pick and choose his line of work because doors flew open. 

“I had forged by then exactly what type of films I wanted to do,” he said. “I used (my fame) as a blessing, to make R-rated, different kind of movies, to throw the dice a little bit on things i wanted to act in. People would want to finance those movies now. I’d never had that before Titanic.”

In the wake of this news, fans have flooded social media platforms with their reactions, creating a online conversation. “How has Leo never watched Titanic? I can’t even imagine not seeing my work! It’d be a learning experience,” one fan wrote on Instagram, echoing a sentiment that many share. 

There's a growing belief that if DiCaprio took the time to watch his performances, it might offer him a unique perspective and even help him hone his craft, despite his already successful career.

While he is celebrated for his roles in films like The Revenant and The Wolf of Wall Street, DiCaprio has often faced an ironic twist in his accolades. Despite his monumental achievements on the big screen, he has never won a Tony Award or an Emmy Award. These gaps in his trophy collection have led fans to hope that a trip back to Titanic might not only be a nostalgic journey, but could also provide him with insights that spark new creative endeavors.
