Madison Marilla and Tyler White, the beloved couple from Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum, are engaged!

The emotional proposal, captured in episode six of season four (which debuted on Netflix April 1), took place where their story began – Tampa’s Sunken Gardens.

Tyler staged a “Christmas in July”–themed surprise, leaving a note that Madison read through tears before he went down on one knee.

“I knew in my heart when I met you that I found someone special, unique and precious," he wrote in the message. "With this being our one-year anniversary, I would like to give you a gift to express just how much you mean to me. From the moment I met you, I knew I had met my person, and I don’t want to wait another moment to let the world know just how I feel."

The moment felt like a full-circle celebration for viewers who’ve followed the pair since season three. Madison admitted she’d suspected something was up after Tyler quietly spoke with her parents before the engagement.

“Tyler pulled my parents aside, and they were speaking for a very long time when we all had dinner at Tyler’s house,” she told Netflix Tudum in an interview published April 1. “I kind of had a feeling that night that he was probably asking them for their blessing.”

Madison has already kicked off the wedding planning process, and her vision is a cowboy-and-princess-themed ceremony. If you’re a superfan of the show, you know this is very on-brand for the couple.

The timing of Season 4’s release feels especially meaningful, as it arrives during Autism Awareness Month. The network and advocates have urged viewers to use the season as a conversation starter – to educate themselves about autism, uplift autistic voices, and show visible support by wearing blue throughout April. Simple ways to get involved include watching and sharing the series, following and donating to reputable autism organizations or local support groups.

Love on the Spectrum has long been praised for centering authentic, nuanced portrayals of autistic people building relationships, and Madison and Tyler’s engagement deepens that connection for many viewers.
