Maria Georgas is finally speaking out about The Bachelorette drama that’s been buzzing ever since her name popped up in the mess between Jenn Tran and Devin Strader. After returning from a “peaceful trip” with her family, Georgas turned to social media late Thursday night (Sept. 5) to address the situation. 

Georgas competed for Joey Graziadei’s heart alongside Tran. When the season ended, many members of Bachelor Nation thought Georgas would score The Bachelorette, but she allegedly turned down the role. 

“I was offered the role. It was mine until I said it wasn’t,” she previously told Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy. “It became very overwhelming to the point where I had to decline. I just was not ready.” 

Fans were speechless after the franchise announced Tran as the next “Bachelorette” lead. Sam McKinney, the Villain of Season 21, admitted that the bachelors competing weren’t expecting Tran as well.

“When we all came out here, we had no idea who the bachelorette was going to be,” he recently shared during After the Final Rose. “But if anybody’s going to sit up here and say they didn’t think it was going to be Daisy or Maria, you guys are liars.” 

Within the same night, viewers learned that Tran’s ex-fiancé broke off their engagement over the phone and immediately followed Georgas on social media. Bachelor Nation also discovered that he went “clubbing in New York City” with her after the breakup. 

Tran was clearly hurt by Strader’s actions. She felt that following Maria so soon after their split was a disrespectful move. She was understandably upset, especially since she had been a frontrunner for the Bachelorette role alongside Maria and others.

“Not only is that so disrespectful to everything that we had shared, it completely invalidated the entire relationship,” she said directly to his face. 

The reality star, 28, responded to Tran’s accusations by owning up to his mistakes. “Obviously I failed you. And there’s nothing I can say other than that. But, everything I felt for you was real,” he said during the finale. He explained that he ended the engagement because he couldn’t meet Tran’s needs and didn’t want her to compromise her standards for his sake.

In true Georgas fashion, she did not hesitate to set the record straight and tell fans her perspective.

“Last night was hard to watch, and my heart goes out to Jenn,” she said in a lengthy video, referring to the After The Final Rose episode. “I can’t speak on her relationship. The only two people who can speak about her relationship are Devin and her.”

She continued, “I’m over coming to defense for my character…I know who I am, and my friends and family know who I am. The fact that I had you guys watch me through a screen and still be able to see how real I was, I have no words. I understand Jenn having to speak up about it – say your piece, girlfriend, I respect it. I just think without the full context, it leads people to believe a whole different narrative.”

Georgas pointed out that Strader did follow her on social media, but she only realized when Bachelor Nation brought it to her attention. She made it clear that she had never met Strader before. However, she confirmed that she had been clubbing with fellow contestant Jeremy Simons. 

“I never went clubbing out with him,” she explained. “He did his own thing. Did I go out with Jeremy – a night with friends, a bunch of us together? Yes, I did. I can’t control who follows who. But what I can control is what I do about it. And what I’m doing is not following back. Now, seeing how things transpired, I will never follow that man. And people knew that. So the fact that this whole thing has come out now, and the story has changed, is beyond me. I have nothing to do with the ending of the relationship.”
