The 2026 Golden Globes (Jan. 11) was a night filled with glitz, glamour, and enough twists to spark debates and conversations among fans online. The celebration of cinematic and television achievements featured standout wins, unexpected snubs, and multiple memorable moments.

Let’s unpack the highlights, lowlights, and everything in between from this year's ceremony.

"Kylie-Jenner-Chalamet" Name Card

Engagement rumors have been swirling for quite some time, but did the Golden Globes just confirm those outlandish rumors? All eyes were on Kylie Jenner and award-winning actor Timothee Chalamet, as they were spotted kissing and being intimate all night. However, eagle-eyed fans noticed a jaw-dropping place card that read, "Kylie Jenner-Chalamet.” This obviously sparked rumors online about whether or not the two are engaged or even secretly married. However, super fans decided to take it a step further and match the font to other place cards at the star-studded affair. Fans are saying that the script on Kyle’s alleged place card is commonly different.

“It was fake, the font didn’t match the one at the actual signs at the event,” a fan wrote on social media. “The card means Kylie Jenner’s seat, and Chalamet means Chalamet is the ticket,” added another, clarifying the award show dynamic.

Nikki Glaser Carried The Award Show

The show was laced with unforgettable speeches and humorous moments, thanks in large part to host Nikki Glaser.  The comedian kicked off the 83rd Golden Globes with an 11-minute monologue that took sharp jabs at A-listers in the crowd. However, her sharp wit kept the vibe light. Not only did she poke fun at  Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating history, but she thanked Steve Martin and Martin Short for proving that "you are never, ever too old to still need money." She encouraged James Cameron to "keep making weird monster sex movies," and asked George Clooney a very important question about her Nespresso machine, which was a subtle knock on his most recent commercial work rather than his performance in Jay Kelly. She said Kevin Hart was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s plus one and called the One Battle After Another star Sean Penn a “sexy leather handbag.”

Teyana Taylor's Eye-Opening Acceptance Speech

Among the night's best moments was Teyana Taylor's triumph in the Best Female Supporting Actor category for her role in One Battle After Another. Her victory was seen as a feel-good moment, especially as she delivered an inspiring acceptance speech directed at "my brown sisters and little brown girls," highlighting the importance of representation in Hollywood.

"Our Softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine," she said with strength in her voice. "We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space."

Chloé Zhao Left Speechless After Hamnet Win For Best Drama

Chloé Zhao's win for Best Motion Picture – Drama for Hamnet also shocked fans. The acclaimed director seemed genuinely stunned when her name was called. Accompanied by producer Steven Spielberg, Zhao expressed her gratitude and took a moment to recognize her fellow nominee, Ryan Coogler of Sinners, underlining the strong competition this year.

"He said that making Hamnet made him realize that the most important thing about making the film was learning to be vulnerable enough to allow ourselves to be seen for who we are, for who we ought to be, and to give ourselves fully to the world even the parts of ourselves we are shamed of, that we are afraid of, that are imperfect, so that the people that we speak to they can fully accept themselves for who they are," she said. "I see so many of you have become so strong and tender at the same time and shared so much of yourselves with the world," Zhao said. "So salute your bravery and your dedication. Let's keep seeing each other and let each other be seen."

Seth Rogen Confirms Season 2 of The Studio

If you watched the Golden Globes, you know that The Studio completely dominated. Co-creator Seth Rogen accepted the award for Best Television Series – Musical and Comedy, and gave the show’s crew a heartwarming shout-out. The Studio was in a tough category, going up against Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Nobody Wants This, and Only Murders in the Building. Many fans noticed a full-circle moment for Rogen and the cast, as episode eight of season one was set during the Golden Globes, meaning the cast found themselves attending the real ceremony after recreating a fictional one on screen. During the acceptance speech, Rogen confirmed that filming for season two will be underway soon.

"I really want to thank our crew, most of whom don’t get invited to this, but they should," she admitted. "Truly, without all of you, this show would not be makeable. So thank you very much. We couldn’t appreciate it more. We’re so excited to start shooting the next season in one week. So thank you all very much."

The Snubs: A Disappointing Turn for Fan-Favorites

However, the evening was not without its disappointments. One of the night's most talked-about snubs was the complete shutout of Frankenstein, which entered the ceremony with five nominations but left without any wins. Fans were disappointed, as many believed the film deserved acknowledgment for its quality. Additionally, Wicked: For Good did not secure a single trophy, leaving its stars, including Ariana Grande and Colman Domingo, visibly disheartened.

Critics also pointed to the show's pacing as a downside, with some acceptance speeches running longer than expected, leading viewers to lose interest at times.

Surprising Wins: Underdogs Stealing the Show

Perhaps the biggest surprises came in the form of victories for films and performances that had not been considered front-runners. Hamnet triumphing over notable competitors was a refreshing twist that changed the narrative heading into future award shows. Paul Thomas Anderson's double win for One Battle After Another – Best Screenplay and Best Director – solidified his reputation as a powerful figure in the film industry.

The 2026 Golden Globes delivered a thrilling mixture of excitement, heartfelt moments, and unexpected results that will keep conversations alive as awards season progresses.
