The third season of The Sex Lives of College Girls will have ten episodes, with one new installment dropping each week at 9 p.m. ET until January 23, 2025.
The highly anticipated third season of The Sex Lives of College Girls will premiere on November 21, just in time for Thanksgiving break. MAX dropped the official teaser on Wednesday afternoon (Oct.9), getting fans out of their mid-week slump.
The approximately one-minute sneak peek is everything fans wanted and more, as it gives us a glimpse into their next semester at Essex College. The comedy-drama, created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, follows four college suitemates navigating the messy realities of college life.
Viewers are eagerly counting down the days, but there's a bittersweet note as it marks the final season for star Reneé Rapp, who is shifting her focus to her burgeoning music career. She previously told The Hollywood Reporter how difficult it was to make the decision to leave the show.
"It was hard for so many reasons. Recently, on TikTok, [I watched] this scene in season one, where I come out to another character as a lesbian, and I'm crying, sobbing. And I hadn't seen that scene in years. It is so interesting that, at the time, I wasn't even aware that what I was experiencing in my own personal life was actually exactly what I was doing onscreen. I was in a relationship with a man, incredibly confused, unsure of myself, feeling so insecure in my acting. And I watched the scene the other day, and I was like, 'Wow, I feel so lucky to have that,'" she recalled.
The newly released teaser displays the hilarious antics to come. For instance, Kimberly, played by Pauline Chalamet, finds herself in an awkward situation when she matches with her suitemate's dad on a dating app.
Meanwhile, Bela, portrayed by Amrit Kaur, expresses her unusual crush on the school mascot – setting the stage for more laugh-out-loud moments. Fans have taken to social media to express their excitement for the upcoming season, with many dubbing it the ultimate binge-watch for Thanksgiving. However, there's a palpable sense of sadness among viewers as they prepare to say goodbye to Rapp's character, Leighton Murray.
"I'm so not ready for this!!" one fan shared below the trailer on YouTube, echoing the sentiments of many who worry that the show won't be the same without her. Leighton has been a core part of the friend group, and her departure leaves fans questioning how the dynamics will shift.
Rapp will appear as a recurring guest star, helping to wrap up Leighton's storyline as she transitions away from Essex. The teaser offers a mix of humor and emotional farewells, showing Rapp's character in key scenes alongside her suitemates. Bela's desire to sleep with the mascot and the evolving relationship between Kimberly and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) hint at more twists and turns ahead.
As the series continues to delve into the lives of its characters, fans are also speculating about the upcoming plotlines. Questions arise regarding Bela's potential transfer and Whitney's sorority decision, which will add to the intrigue of the season.
"So, who convinces Bela not to transfer? And what is the timeline of this season? Clearly, part of it is the end of the spring semester," a viewer questioned. Season two ended with Bela requesting to transfer and Whitney deciding to leave their suite to live in her sorority house.
The third season of The Sex Lives of College Girls will consist of ten episodes, with one new installment dropping each week at 9 p.m. ET until January 23, 2025. The show also stars Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Renika Williams, Gracie Lawrence, and Mia Rodgers, ensuring plenty of laughter and heartfelt moments as the group continues their college journey.
