Fans were taken aback upon learning that Meryl Streep, a close friend and co-star of Selena Gomez on Only Murders in the Building, will not be attending Gomez's upcoming wedding to Benny Blanco. 

An insider revealed to Page Six that while Streep had initially planned to attend, she later informed the couple that she would be unable to make it. 

The exact reason for her absence remains undisclosed, but it's widely speculated that her filming commitments for the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada in New York City have made attending the wedding unfeasible. 

The Only Murders in the Building cast is renowned for their close-knit bond, often sharing behind-the-scenes moments that showcase their camaraderie. For instance, during the 2025 Emmy Awards,  Gomez was seen playfully catching Martin Short texting Meryl Streep, highlighting their strong off-screen relationships.

This tight-knit dynamic has led fans to believe that Streep's absence is due to significant professional obligations, rather than a personal choice.

Despite Streep's absence, the wedding guest list remains star-studded. Short and Steve Martin, also co-stars on the show, are expected to attend, along with Paris Hilton and Gomez's longtime friend Taylor Swift. 

However, Swift's fiancé, NFL star Travis Kelce, will likely be absent due to a scheduling conflict. The Kansas City Chiefs have a game against the Baltimore Ravens the following day, and Kelce's team curfew prevents him from traveling. 

Fans have expressed a mix of understanding and disappointment regarding these absences.
