As Season 27 of 'The Voice' kicks off its third round of blind auditions, the coaches' playful chemistry takes center stage.
We're back at it again!
The third round of blind auditions for Season 27 of The Voice is here, and the coaching panel is putting on quite the show, convincing us they're the best of friends – at least for now. Michael Bublé, affectionately dubbed "Mikey Bubbles," seems to never tire of reminding everyone — not just in the group chat — that he's not only the reigning champ but also the king of dad jokes.
While Kelsea Ballerini has been busy building her team during the first two episodes, Adam Levine is clearly itching to shift the spotlight back to himself. But is it working? It appears the competition may be getting to him. Despite his usual passive approach, maybe the Coach Replay is just what he needs to shake things up.
The coaches are here to deliver a spectacular show — a wholesome family affair brimming with hope, optimism, and heart-tugging backstories. Yet, there comes a point in the season when we're all just ready to dive into the music. After all, this is The Voice, where we journey with the artists as they strive to make their mark.
Bublé Finds His Groove with Talents Divighn and Barry Jean
The show starts with Divighn from Gardenia, California, who electrifies the stage with James Brown’s “I Got You (I Feel Good).” His dynamic performance wins over the coaches, especially as he channels a bit of Prince’s flair, blending classic soul with modern R&B. Both Ballerini and l Bublé see his potential, though Michael wins him over with a clever quip borrowed from Snoop Dogg: “When they go low, I get high.” Divighn chooses Michael, ready for a season sprinkled with dad jokes.
Meanwhile, Barry Jean Fontenot, a sword enthusiast from Baton Rouge now living in Chicago, captivates with a Motown classic, “I Wish It Could Rain” by The Temptations. His smooth, buttery voice catches Bublé’s attention, securing a solo chair turn. Barry closes his audition by gifting each coach a wooden rudis sword, blending vocal talent with a touch of swordplay flair.
Team Ballerini Empowers Women with Page and Jessica
Nashville's dreams are tough, and many need a side hustle like Page Mackenzie. She often sings for her passengers on her pedal tavern, hoping her Broadway gigs lead to a big break. Her rendition of "Hell on Heels" by Pistol Annies catches Ballerini's immediate attention. Page delivers a strong, solo performance, impressing enough to get Kelsea and Bublé to turn at the last note. Despite Bublé's pitch citing Canada's love for country music, Page naturally goes with Kelsea!
Inspired by previous Filipino winner Sofronio Vasquez, Jessica Manalo showcases her talent in Las Vegas. Despite similar challenges over her musical ambitions, Jessica's Blind Audition marks a fresh start with her supportive mother watching. She transforms Sam Smith’s "Unholy" into a haunting acoustic version, catching both Bublé and Ballerini's interest. The battle heats up with Bublé leveraging hockey charm, but Jessica, resonating with Ballerini's artistry, chooses her, securing another win for Team Ballerini.
Adam Levine Coach Reignites His Passion with Tinika and Conor
It’s always inspiring to see seasoned performers like 50-year-old ">Tinika Wyatt from San Diego challenge the norm on The Voice. A mother of four and family therapy pastor, Tinika proves it’s never too late to chase your dreams. She surprises everyone by choosing ">Demi Lovato's "Sorry Not Sorry" for her audition, delivering a powerful interpretation that, regrettably, doesn’t turn any chairs. Bublé suggests a different song might have showcased her range better. However, after revealing a previous audition aimed to charm the original coach ten years ago, Levine uses his Coach Replay to bring her onto his team.
Conor James from Bridgewater, Massachusetts, then captivates all four coaches with a sultry rendition of "I Say a Little Prayer," securing the first four-chair turn of the night. With a background in musical theater, Conor connects instantly with Levine, who successfully recruits him by highlighting similarities to past successful contestants.
Lastly, we meet Tyler Kae, a 22-year-old from Olympia, Washington, whose performance of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" brings a fresh, cinematic twist to the classic. Despite her social anxiety, Tyler's unique arrangement captures the coaches' attention. Levine enjoys the performance so much that he uses a block to ensure she joins his team, adding a lively dynamic to the night’s auditions.
Team John Legend Grows: John's Persuasive Power Attracts Jacquelyn and BD.ii
On The Voice, Jacquelyn George from Franklin, Tennessee surprises everyone with her high-pitched speaking voice, a stark contrast to her powerful singing range. With a musical lineage that includes a brother from the boy band Plus One, Jacquelyn takes on Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing." While she can't mimic Houston, she brings her own intensity to the performance, catching Legend's attention. A personal connection is made when she sings snippets of Legend's songs, leading her to choose him as her coach after a heartfelt duet.
BD.ii, real name Brian Darden II, comes to the stage with a background in songwriting and a halted basketball career due to injury. Opting for Miguel’s "Adorn," he impresses with his unique style, earning a four-chair turn, though Levine gets blocked by Ballerini. Legend plays his trump card by highlighting his collaboration with Miguel, helping BD.ii decide to join Team Legend, aiming to make his mark beyond just Valentine's Day.
Meanwhile, Jonny Rey from Hammonton, New Jersey, shares his expertise in blueberries alongside his musical aspirations. Performing Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved," he showcases potential but hits a few off notes that unfortunately don't secure a chair turn.
